Foreign visitation to the USA is on the rise

The U.S. travel and tourism industry has suffered some painful blows in these recession-ravaged years. But the numbers are encouraging on one front: inbound foreign tourists.

About 60 million international tourists visited the USA in 2010, up 9% from the previous year, says an annual Commerce Department report. The report, issued by the department’s Office of Travel & Tourism Industries, put their economic impact at $1.34 trillion. More >

This isn’t the first time USA Travel Guide has ventured to the rugged west in search of obnoxiously over-branded entertainment. We’ve discussed Disney lands, worlds and whatnots so many times, I wouldn’t even suffer accusations of being in the old mouse’s pocket. (Unfortunately, we’re not).

Travel deficit widens on U.S. travel

Canada’s travel deficit with the world hit $3.8 billion in the fourth quarter, as the high-flying loonie encouraged Canadians to take trips south of the border.

The international travel deficit grew by $157 million from the third quarter, as spending by Canadian travellers outside the country jumped 2.4%, Statistics Canada said Friday. More >

America offers a wide variety of tourist destinations

America is a large country comprised of 50 states that can easily be considered fifty countries. The country is divided in four time zones starting from East Coast that comprise of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Washington DC among others. In the west coast there states like California and Washington. In the central time zone there is Texas, Arkansas, Illinois and Michigan. There are direct flights to New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago and San Francisco from major European destinations.
American hotels although maintain their brand identity are designed to suit the weather and cultural traditions of each state. New York is one of the most diverse state so that hotels try to conserve this tradition of diversity and include various motifs from the cultures around the world. New York is quite cold in winter with snow fall in most years. West coast is famous for its technological innovation and liberal values which are considered in designing a hotel. More >
